It feels like there’s a new designer collaboration to get excited about every week, from Murakami x Vans to Albert Hammond Jr. x Jacques-Elliott. The formula for a successful collab tends to follow the “opposites attract” rule—Ikea x Walter Van Beirendonck, anyone?—so it seems to go against convention for two designers in the same market to join forces. But eyewear innovators Garrett Leight and Thierry Lasry are turning the concept on its head with their third capsule together, a first look of which debuts exclusively here. Leight is a Los Angeles eyewear designer who gravitates toward classic, slightly retro frames, while the Paris-based Lasry specializes in novelty colors and high-tech layered acetate construction. “We both appreciate what we do and have a profound respect for each other,” Leight told Style.com. “We are both very passionate about Los Angeles and Paris, and the love for our cities is reflected in our brands…It’s a special opportunity to collaborate with a like-minded individual, even if we both make the same product.” Continue reading →
